Our Family

I'm Heather. I am a 21 year old stay at home mom and wife. My husband, Kevin, is in the United States Coast Guard and we are currently stationed at the black hole of America, also known as Upstate NY. Hayden was born May 26, 2009 and that's the day our lives changed for the better.

Today was interesting.

Today was interesting.

Where do I begin. Most of you already know that Hayden got hit in his ear pretty hard by my neighbor's 4 year old daughter. It's a long story that I am tired of repeating, but just know that it did not end well. The mother handled it inappropriately and we are no longer friends. His ear swelled up quickly and pretty badly. I feel so bad for him. I think it is bothering him now because he is having issues sleeping tonight. If it's not gone completely tomorrow, then off to the doctor we go. I would like to avoid that at all costs though.

On a brighter note (I think), Kevin finally got fully qualified on the hand gun today, so he is not fully qualified on all the guns. That means schools. Lots of schools coming up. Some aren't so long, but some are 6 weeks long and I am not feeling that at all, but I will stand by him and support him. I know he will miss Hayden and I, and we will miss him a lot too. I am proud of him though.

Busy day!

Today, I had a yard sale with one of my best friends here. We did decent with the money we made. Afterwards, I met another good friend and we took the kids to the park. It was a good time and we found out Hayden knows how to climb! Totally scary, but so awesome too. Kevin is gone all weekend, so he missed it, but he will see it soon enough!

I can't lie. I am nervous.

Today, I took Hayden in to see a on call doctor because I thought his wheezing hadn't gotten any better. Well, she tells me that he's not wheezing. The noise that I am hearing is what they call stridor.

I did some research, and it scares me honestly. Here is a link to what stridor is and the treatments that go along with it.

Today was a good day.

Today, we had a few friends over for dinner. It was nice to hang out with a group of people we all like and we all get along with. We had a huge dinner and then played Rock Band for a few hours. It was a good time, if I do say so myself.

Hayden had a very messy lunch. Ravioli. Needless to say, he had a bath afterwards! We also think he has a milk allergy, so off to the doctor we go AGAIN.

Time to plan a birthday party!

Well, Hayden is almost 11 months old now :( I can't believe it.

Anyways, time to plan the party. I am order an Elmo cake, but it's cupcake in the shape of Elmo's face. Way easier for kids! Elmo theme, obviously. He LOVES Elmo. I am getting super excited about it though. I've never planned a kids birthday party, so I hope it turns out alright. We are just going to have it here at our house. There is a park down the street if the kids get bored, haha. I am thinking of getting a pinata though. I think that would be fun for all of the kids.

I can't believe how time has flown.

Well, Hayden is almost 11 months old now. I honestly cannot believe it at all. He recently had what NYS calls a Denver appointment to test motor skills and he was above average for his age. We are very proud to say the least. He took THREE steps yesterday and it scared him, so he has yet to try it again!

We are also planning his 1st birthday party now and his theme is Elmo! He loves Elmo.

We may also be having a huge change in our lives soon. Since the Coast Guard is having a reduction in forces and people are losing jobs, they are allowing people who want out, to get out. They are offering some benefits and severance pay, but we want to make sure we would be okay for awhile before we say yes, we want out. It would be amazing to get out of here and be closer to family and friends.
