Our Family

I'm Heather. I am a 21 year old stay at home mom and wife. My husband, Kevin, is in the United States Coast Guard and we are currently stationed at the black hole of America, also known as Upstate NY. Hayden was born May 26, 2009 and that's the day our lives changed for the better.

On The Road Again.

He was playing with Daddy <3
2 Months Old

We are leaving to go back to New York tomorrow morning. It's been a long week and I am tired. I am ready to get back into our routine. My baby is 2 months old now and just about sleeps through the night (at least he's done it a couple of times here). He is getting so big. He has his 2 month wellchild appointment on August 3rd. I had to reschedule it since we are out of town. He has to get 5 shots and I am definitely not looking forward to it.

3 Days Shy of 2 Months Old!

Yep, that's right. Three days shy of two months old, and what does he do?

He ROLLS over from his back to his stomach completely on his own! I wish I wouldn't have been so much in shock so I could have caught a picture!

Unexpected Trip.

Well, as most of you already know, we are in Virginia right now on emergency leave. Hayden did really well on the drive down here. He slept a majority of the way and only woke up twice to eat. Hayden got to meet family he hasn't met yet. His great grandma and great grandpa and he also has a God mom now :) His God mom is Angela. She has been my best friend for 7 years now. He met his little cousin, Katelynn and she was so excited to meet him. Ready to feed him, change his diaper and everything. Mind you, she's only 4.

Hayden is 8 weeks and 2 days old now and I just can't believe he is already that old.

Smiling Boy!

I am FINALLY being able to catch Hayden's smiles on camera! He smiles ALLLL the time and sometimes I even catch him laughing out loud in his sleep. It's the funniest thing ever. He loves to smile when he is being sung too or when you tell he is handsome :)

A Small Update On Us!

I am guessing he was scared of Elmo!
Kevin at work :)

Well, Hayden is growing EVER so quickly. He is already 7 weeks old and goes on the 28th for his 2 month appointment to get FIVE shots :( Kevin has finally decided he wants to do EMT, more than likely starting in August. It is a 6 month course apparently and since we are here in NY on an extention of his enlistment, he can cancel his enlistment ANYTIME and we can be outta here and back home settling down! So yeah, he is getting out of the Coast Guard. We are both ready for the transition and I for one can't wait. I am ready to be closer to our families.

The Jefferson County Fair - July 15th.

One of the few times he was awake :)
His baby boats shirt!

Today, Kevin and I took Hayden to the county fair here in Watertown. He slept a majority of the time, but when he was awake, he was smiling and cooing. He is the cutest thing :) Kevin won him a BIG stuffed Winnie the Pooh! We also had a shirt made for Hayden. It says "Baby Boats" with the crossed anchors and his date of birth. I LOVE it!

Hayden's Birth Story

I just wanted to post Hayden's birth story for anyone who hasn't heard about it and is interested in knowing it :)

My water broke at midnight May 26, 2009. Kevin called my OB and of course, never got a call back so an hour later, we arrived at labor and delivery after figuring out what I thought was pee was actually my water breaking considering it never stopped. I was admitted around 1 or so that morning after my nurse checked to make sure it was amniotic fluid and not actually urine. The contractions came on quick and they were very intense, along with having back labor. It was miserable and after a few hours of screaming through contractions, I decided it was time for the epidural or I wasn't going to make it the rest of the way. I got the epidural around 4:30A.M. and after the epidural, my OB checked my cervix. I was 3cm and 90% effaced. They decided to start me on pitocin and put a catheter in. The epidural was AMAZING and felt very strange with not being able to feel my legs. It felt like they weighed 100 pounds a piece. I got a little rest for about an hour, no actual sleep though. Around 8:30, I started feeling A LOT of pressure. No one knew I was ready to push because the contraction monitor wasn't picking up all of my contractions and I couldn't feel anything except pressure. My OB came in to check my cervix again and she felt Hayden's head. I freaked out. I had no idea I was that close already. So, after an hour and a half of pushing, Hayden David made his appearance into the world weighing 6 pounds 11 ounces and 20 inches long.

He had to be taken straight to the NICU after me only being able to hold for a minute. We didn't get to hold him again until he was 4 days old. He had fluid in his lungs, causing him to breathe too fast and obviously causing him to work over time. He also developed jaundice while in NICU. He had to stay at the hospital for 6 days so I had to go home without him. While it was very hard to go home without him, I am glad he only had to stay a few extra days longer from me being discharged and not months and months.

Getting started :)

Hi everyone :)

I started this blog so it's easier for people to keep up with our family and little Mr. Hayden who is growing so fast! He is 6 weeks old now and eating like a little pig. At his 1 month wellchild appointment on June 29th, he weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces now. He is doing great :)
